Optimizing Maintenance Resource Levels

Consider a system that performs a sequence of identical missions with breaks between missions. Suppose that maintenance can only be performed during these breaks and that limited time is available for performing maintenance actions. Selective maintenance refers to the process of identifying the subset of maintenance actions to perform from a set of desirable maintenance actions. In this paper, we expand the selective maintenance problem by considering the problem of setting appropriate capacities for the limited maintenance resource (time). We explore mission-to-mission changes in this capacity as well as setting constant resources capacities for a sequence of missions.
